This plate reads FIRE HYDRANT, and it identifies the hydrant cupboard or outlet location so attending crews can find it from the corridor instead of opening every door on the floor. It is made 600mm x 100mm horizontal, the slimline proportion used for door-mounted statutory identification through fire stairs, lift lobbies and service risers.
The signage a hydrant installation has to carry is specified in the building's fire services design. Hydrant identification is a common pick-up on inspection, usually because a plate has gone missing, been painted over, or come off a door during a fitout and never gone back, and replacing like for like is normally the cleanest answer.
Mount it centred above the cupboard door or directly beside it, at a height readable from the approach rather than from arm's length. On a fire-rated door leaf, use an adhesive fixing rather than drilling, since penetrating the leaf can compromise its tested configuration. Finishes are satin natural anodised aluminium, silver brushed composite (ACM) and white composite (ACM), all in the same 600 x 100 format, so a floor with mixed door finishes still reads as one set. $35 each, SKU UNI_SS_103.
