The Brief
Optus required a comprehensive statutory and wayfinding signage package for their new corporate office fit-out in Sydney CBD. The project involved 6 floors of commercial tenancy with strict NCC compliance requirements and a tight 3-week handover deadline.
The Challenge
With six floors to sign and multiple trades on site simultaneously, the key challenge was coordinating delivery of 340+ signs to align with the flooring and painting schedule — ensuring signs weren’t installed before trades were finished, but were in place before the handover inspection.
Our Solution
We conducted a full floor plan review across all six levels and produced a detailed sign schedule and Bill of Quantities within 48 hours of receiving the plans. Each floor was batched into a separate delivery, staged to match the construction programme. Signs were delivered in floor-labelled boxes with installation drawings included.
Sign Types Supplied
- Fire exit and directional signs (AS2293) — 84 signs
- Fire safety door signs — 60 signs
- Electrical and communication room signs — 28 signs
- Braille and tactile wayfinding (AS1428) — 72 signs
- Accessible toilet signs — 18 signs
- Emergency assembly point signs — 4 signs
- Custom frosted acrylic wayfinding signs — 74 signs
The Result
All 340 signs were delivered on time across three staged deliveries. The project passed its building compliance inspection with zero signage defects. The client’s project manager noted the pre-labelled delivery system saved the installation crew an estimated 4 hours of sorting time on site.
“Statutory Signs handled the full BOQ and staged delivery without us having to chase anything. The signs arrived exactly when we needed them, floor by floor. First time we’ve had a sign supplier truly work to our programme.”
